XLQline qualifier is an handheld multifunction measuring instrument intended for the prequalification, installation, maintenance and fault location on balanced copper wire pairs.
The measurements are made on the copper pair before the installation of the ADSL ADSL2+ or SHDSL modem and DSLAM.
Regarding a line qualifiying, we realize an end-to-end measurement system using two instruments in « master, slave » arrangement. Just one person, thanks to communication between the two instruments, can perform very easily this measurement.
Sequences of automatic tests are predefined. The XLQ can be used indifferently as master or as slave. A simplified version of the tester is available for the use only in slave mode (XLQ-SL).
The tolerance masks concerning the different measurement (attenuation, LCL, NEXT, FEXT, line impedance, return loss) and the main system parameters are pre-programmed for more than 50 XDSL transmission technologies. A parameter editor also allows the user to define and store its own template sets as well as customised systems (these configurations can also be downloaded from a PC).
During an automatic test sequence, the XLQ provides an immediate « pass-fail » indication by comparing the test results with the tolerance masks and the obtained throughputs with the theoretical rates.
Detailed test results are available in numeric and graphic form as well. In case of FAIL indication the reason of failures is marked with an asterisk.
Regarding the fault location, the XLQ is composed of a developed reflectometer function (TDR/reflectometry) and also allows the characteristic measurement of the cable parameters (insulation, loop impedance, capacitance, voltage, …).
