ISDN Simulator at the U interface (Basic Rate Access) |
ACTIVU
is an ISDN Layer 1 simulator which aims at testing network
equipment designed to be inserted at the ISDN U interface
as Network Termination (NT1), Line Termination cards (LT),
U repeaters, Pairgain systems, multiplexers and routers.
ACTIVU is able to simulate and to monitor
all the Layer 1 events from the network side (LT simulation)
and from the customer premises side (NT simulation) offering
a powerful and complete test platform.

ACTIVU Introduction :
ACTIVU is made of a master box, called simulator, including all the measurement and simulation interfaces and a WindowsTM PC software for the display of test results and the simulator control..
The U line interfaces are integrated into two similar boxes called modules.
Those modules can be easily extracted and replaced in order to be able to simulate different kind of line interfaces.
The modules are automatically configured in LT or NT simulation mode when they are inserted.
ACTIVU is a future-proof product that allows
you to simulate next line interface generation only by replacing
the modules.
Thanks to its modularity ACTIVU is able to
simulate the different parts of the local loop and to offer
several operating modes.
Line
Termination Simulation : This configuration is mainly
used for the test of customer premises equipment connected to
the U interface such as Network Termination (NT1), routers.
ACTIVU simulates the U interface from the network operator side
which means acting as a Line Termination card.
Network
Termination Simulation : This configuration is dedicated
to the test of Line Terminal (LT) cards.
In this case, ACTIVU fully simulates the customer
premises installation (Network Termination and Terminal Equipment
included) and provides the U interface from the NT1 side.
Local
Loop Simulation : This configuration allows you to
get a complete local loop simulation including all the functional
equipment: Network Termination, Line Termination and Terminal
equipment (S interface). This configuration is mainly dedicated
to the test of equipment inserted at the U interface such as
repeaters, Line simulators (transmission parameters), pairgain
systems and multiplexers.
Terminal
Equipment Simulation : ACTIVU is able to activate the
layer 1 at the S0 interface thanks to its Terminal Equipment
included.
The power supply at the U interface can be provided by the simulator or by an external power source.
The modules operating modes are clearly identified thanks to front panel LED's. BERT test can be simply done by using the internal Pseudo Random Bit Sequence (PRBS) generator or by connecting an external data generator.
Monitoring
facility :
The
monitoring facility allows you to check that a product complies
to your scenario and programs which means to the standards or
to the specific tests you want to execute for the validation
of this product.

Thanks
to Historical files you get a complete
record of all events that happened at the S and U interfaces.
All the events are time stamped with an accuracy of 1
ms (10-3 sec).
The no conformity to your test specification is clearly
indicated through alarms
You can configure the behavior of the simulator in case
of timer expiration. |
